Lesley Smith is the Daily Camera’s pick for HD-49
“Our choice for House District 49 is Lesley Smith.”
Smith knows exactly what it means to lead in a hyper-partisan environment — and even there she was able to build bridges and get things done.
Her leadership and policy experience is proven, and her background as a scientist and educator would make her an excellent addition to the legislature…having someone prepared to lead with knowledge would be beneficial to both Boulder and the state at large.
My name is Lesley Smith and I am running to be HD-49’s next state representative.
Special interest groups and corporations have too much power at the Capitol. I am running to take that power back and put it into the hands of the people. As your next state representative, I will fight to protect our climate and our public lands. I will prioritize education, affordability, and the environment, taking a scientific and progressive approach to our pressing challenges.
Lesley Smith will fight for school funding, and take on gun violence, affordable housing and climate change.
Congressman Joe Neguse
"I am proud to endorse Lesley Smith for State House. Lesley is a true public servant, who will work tirelessly to protect our climate, strengthen public education and promote affordability on a number of fronts."
Scientist. Woman Aquanaut. Educator. Public Servant.
I have dedicated my life to teaching, science, public service, and breaking boundaries. I worked for thirty years as a scientist and educator at CU, served on Boulder Valley School Board for eight years, was the first woman aquanaut in the underwater Aquarius research facility, and currently serve as CU Regent.
